E-discovery
E-Discovery Support Across the EDRM
Every stage of the discovery lifecycle, done defensibly and sized to the matter — whether you need the whole thing or one hard piece of it.
The problem
Discovery fails in predictable places. Collections that turn out to be incomplete. Processing that silently drops attachments or mangles a date format. Review budgets that assume a document population half the size of the real one. Productions that come back with a load-file complaint on the day of the deadline.
Large firms absorb this with an in-house e-discovery department. Everyone else absorbs it with associate hours, a vendor priced for a much bigger case, or a paralegal learning the platform on a live matter.
We supply that department on an engagement basis: the people, the process and the documentation, at each EDRM stage your matter needs.
What you get
- Collection guidance and defensible intake from custodians, cloud tenants, mailboxes, mobile and file shares
- Processing: deNISTing, deduplication, email threading, metadata normalization and exception handling, with a processing log
- Early case assessment: population sizing, custodian and date distributions, search-term testing and hit reports
- Review support: protocol design, first-pass and technology-assisted review, quality control sampling and coding audits
- Privilege review support and privilege logs built to the case's protocol
- Productions in the format the ESI agreement specifies: images, natives, text, load files, Bates and confidentiality endorsements
- Hosting on our platform for matters without one, or work performed inside yours
How the work runs
Scoping and ESI protocol
Sources, custodians, date ranges, formats and the governing ESI agreement or protective order are pinned down before any data moves.
Processing and ECA
Data is processed with every exception logged, then sized and profiled so review is planned against the real population, not the estimate.
Review
Reviewers work to a written protocol with QC sampling built in. Technology-assisted review is validated against a control set and its metrics reported.
Production and delivery
Productions are validated against the specification before they ship, with a production log and a QC certificate.
Common questions
Do we have to use your review platform?
No. If you already license a platform, we work inside it under your instance and your access controls. If you do not, we host the matter on ours and export everything in standard formats at close. The choice is yours and can differ matter by matter.
Do you do technology-assisted review?
Yes, where the population and the protocol justify it. TAR is validated against a control set, and the recall and precision estimates are reported so counsel can defend the process. Where it does not fit, we say so and staff a linear review instead.
How do you handle privileged and confidential material?
Handling terms are set in the engagement agreement before any data moves: where it is processed, who has access, retention and destruction at close. Protective-order requirements, including isolated processing environments, are accommodated as part of scoping.
Can you support a declaration about the process?
Yes. Processing logs, review protocols, QC results and production certificates are maintained so a declaration describing how the work was performed can be prepared. Expert testimony is a separate scope and is discussed at intake.
What size matter is a fit?
From a single production of a few thousand documents to a multi-custodian matter in the hundreds of thousands. Below that, a paralegal with a good platform may be all you need; above it, a full-service vendor may be the better fit, and we will tell you which.
Start with a scoping call and a sample
Tell us about the matter and the data. For anything document-heavy, a representative sample under an appropriate agreement lets us return a processed slice, an accuracy report on it, and a fixed price for the full job before anything is committed.
